Psychedelic integration therapy

The Trip Is Just The Middle

You’re preparing for a psychedelic journey and want to go in feeling grounded, clear, and ready for whatever surfaces. Maybe there is some anxiety about what might come up, or uncertainty about whether you are truly prepared. You want to feel settled before you get there.

Or you have already had an experience and something shifted, but that shift has been hard to hold onto. The insights felt real. The clarity, connection, or release was undeniable. And yet within days or weeks, you found yourself sliding back into the same patterns, the same anxiety, the same relationship dynamics you were hoping to leave behind. Something heavy came up that never fully settled, and you have been carrying a low hum of unease ever since. You are not sure what to do with what came up or who to talk to about it.

What is PSYCHEDELIC INTEGRATION THERAPY?

At Embodied Wellness, we offer two distinct services: somatic psychedelic preparation (also called intention setting) and somatic psychedelic integration (post-journey support). We do not provide, administer, or facilitate medicine sessions of any kind.

Somatic psychedelic preparation is for people who are considering a personal journey and want to go in resourced, clear, and ready. This typically involves 1–3 sessions focused on building somatic resources, exploring your history and patterns, working with protective parts that may resist surrender, and anchoring your intention in your body. We’ll talk through your plan, assess readiness, and make sure you are emotionally grounded.

Somatic psychedelic integration is for after you’ve had an experience and want support in the process of weaving insights and physical release back into your daily life.  Because we never work with anyone under the influence of a substance, you come to integration sessions in the days, weeks, or even years following a psychedelic experience. Using somatic, bottom-up processing, we help you metabolize what came up during your experience, complete any unfinished responses your nervous system is still holding, and embody new ways of being so that transformation does not remain an abstract memory but becomes something you can actually feel and live.

Most clients report feeling more grounded, more able to access their insights between sessions, and less pulled by the same old triggers. Integration is how the “aha” becomes “I actually live this now.”

"In many, many ways, all of us are indebted to Indigenous peoples and their traditions and their knowledge when we are interested in these medicines."

our approach

The Deep Roots of Psychedelic Healing

Plant-based psychedelic substances like ayahuasca, peyote, and psilocybin have been used as medicine and sacrament by Indigenous peoples for thousands of years. These traditions understood something Western biomedicine is only beginning to appreciate: psychedelics are context-dependent medicines, shaped not just by biochemistry but by culture, setting, intention, and community. The healing was never just about the substance. It was about the relationship between the person, the medicine, and the tradition holding them both.

These are not new discoveries. They are ancient ones, and for many people exploring psychedelic experiences today, learning about this history deepens the meaning of their own journey. It can be humbling to realize that what you experienced in a single session has been tended, refined, and honored by entire communities across centuries.

At Embodied Wellness, we approach this work with gratitude and humility. We do not claim expertise in Indigenous practice, and we are thoughtful about the difference between honoring a tradition and appropriating it. We hold this history with care and support you in making meaning of your own experience honestly and respectfully.

If you’d like to learn more about the Indigenous roots of these medicines, we recommend the work of Dr. Bia Labate and the Chacruna Institute.

FAQ's about Psychedelic Integration Therapy

Do you provide or administer psychedelic substances?

No. We never provide, administer, or facilitate medicine sessions of any kind. Our work is strictly preparation (intention setting, resourcing, parts work) and post-journey integration with no substances present. We do not endorse the use of illicit substances.

Can you help me if I had a difficult experience months or years ago?

Yes, integration can happen at any time because the body still holds the imprint of the experience. We use somatic inquiry to gently track and work with unresolved activation without re-exposing you to any substance. It is never too late to integrate.

What is the rubber band effect, and how does integration prevent it?

The rubber band effect occurs when the protective parts of your system snap back after a journey, pulling you into old patterns. This is very common and doesn’t mean your experience failed.

In integration sessions, we work with those protective parts in ordinary consciousness, honoring their purpose, earning their trust, and helping them slowly relax so that new ways of being can take root in daily life.

How is somatic integration different from just talking about my experience?

Talking stays cognitive and can keep you circling the same experience without resolution. Somatic integration tracks sensations, impulses, gestures, and nervous system shifts, which are the places where unresolved experiences actually live in the body.

In session, we may invite you to notice where an emotion sits physically, explore a movement that wants to emerge, or complete a protective response. This is how change becomes embodied rather than just understood.

Do I need to take psychedelics to work with you?

Not at all. Many clients come for preparation before their first journey. Some decide that taking a substance is not necessary for their personal healing journey. We honor what’s right for every individual. We help you build somatic resources, explore your intention, and work with any fears or protective parts that are present, all without any medicine involved.

Do you offer online sessions?

Yes, we offer online therapy and in-person sessions. Most of our integration work is available virtually, and it translates beautifully to online sessions. We use guided somatic awareness, parts language, and body-based practices that work just as well through a screen as they do in person.

How TO KNOW IF IT'S RIGHT FOR YOU

Preparing & Integration

WHO THIS IS FOR

Integration is often the most overlooked and most essential part of the entire process. If you have ever felt that a journey changed you but you could not hold onto the shift, you are not alone. This work exists precisely for that gap.

You are a good fit for this service if you are looking for a licensed, trauma-informed therapist who works somatically, understands the landscape of non-ordinary states, and can help you move from insight to lived embodiment, all without any medicine present in sessions.

WHO THIS IS NOT FOR

Psychedelic integration therapy is powerful work, but it is not right for everyone. We do not recommend psychedelic work for clients who are currently experiencing active psychosis, unmedicated bipolar I disorder, active suicidality, or active substance use disorders. We also do not recommend this type of work for clients who have certain dissociative presentations that may be destabilized by deep somatic or psychedelic processing. If any of these apply to you, we can help you find a provider who is better equipped to support your current needs. Safety and stability always come first.

Note: Embodied Wellness does not provide, recommend, source, supply, or facilitate the use of any controlled or illicit substance. We do not attend ceremonies, retreats, or sessions where substances are used. All services are strictly preparation and integration therapy, in full compliance with Michigan law.

This work is not a miracle cure, and it is not a quick fix. Integration is the disciplined, embodied work of making sure that what arose during your experience doesn’t fade, but instead becomes part of who you are. There are risks (the process can be uncomfortable, and old wounds may surface), and there are benefits (lasting change that actually sticks).
